SECONDARY BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES

Secondary biological processes are used for biological removal of organic matter and nutrients following primary treatment. By optimizing the interaction between biomass, aeration, and mixing, these systems provide stable, reliable treatment over a wide range of flows and loadings. WE work with proven technologies to deliver suspended growth, attached growth, and hybrid process solutions for both new construction and retrofit projects. From simple capacity increases to enhanced nutrient removal, WE can help evaluate alternatives, integrate new process equipment into existing basins, and provide systems that are designed to meet or exceed your effluent requirements with long-term reliability.

Attached Growth Biological Systems – Entex Technologies
Attached-growth biological systems enhance treatment capacity and process stability by providing additional surface area for microbial biofilms. These systems are especially effective for facilities facing constrained footprint, rising nutrient limits or fluctuating loading conditions. WE, through Entex Technologies, supply moving-media, fixed-media and modular fixed-film options designed for retrofits, upgrades and new construction — offering high performance with minimal civil cost.

ENTEX TECHNOLOGIES Entex Technologies provides innovative fixed-film and moving-media biological treatment systems that help municipal and industrial wastewater facilities increase capacity, improve nutrient removal, and extend the life of existing infrastructure. Their solutions are built around high-surface-area media, durable construction, and operator-friendly process design that simplifies installation and maintenance.

WE, through Entex, support new installations, retrofits, and process upgrades for activated sludge, oxidation ditches, and other secondary biological systems. Entex solutions integrate seamlessly into existing basins, providing immediate performance benefits without major civil expansion.

WavTex™ Moving Media System
The WavTex™ system uses Entex’s high-performance EnTextile™ media in a moving, wave-action format inside existing aeration basins. Independently moving media sheets generate strong mixing, excellent media contact and enhanced biomass retention — without additional tankage or media-retention screens. WavTex is ideal for IFAS (Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge) and SFF (Submerged Fixed-Film) applications and enables nitrification and denitrification in a single aerated tank.

Webitat™ Fixed Media System
The Webitat™ system uses BioWeb™ media modules engineered for elevated biomass loading within oxidation ditches, lagoons or tanks. Webitat modules integrate diffusers and mixing, optimizing attached growth for nitrification, denitrification or polishing applications. They are especially suited for lagoons, SBRs and retrofits where footprint expansion isn’t feasible.

BioBloc™ Modular Fixed-Film Units
BioBloc™ modules provide loaded fixed-film treatment in floating or fixed platforms for aerobic lagoons, tanks or activated sludge systems. With minimal installation downtime, they offer high biomass retention, lower sludge yield and high performance for BOD and ammonia removal. The media modules are configurable, scalable and designed for energy efficiency.

Why Choose Entex?
  • Proven installations across municipal and industrial applications (treating over 70 MGD total)

  • Footprint-efficient upgrades: many projects avoid new tankage entirely
  • Full service from design through installation and startup
  • Flexible media options matched to site conditions
  • Minimal disruption to existing operations
